The actor Chadwick Boseman, whom I knew best for playing Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic films (though had quite an impressive resume beyond that) passed away yesterday at the age of 43.
Condolences to his family, friends, and fans.
Apparently he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 which is very sad. But it also means that he’s been fighting it for 4+ years in which time he made 12+ major motion pictures, 3 of which are among the top grossing movies of all time.
I’ve never made a movie but I am sure it is months of hard, grueling work under the best of circumstances…
…I can’t imagine having a life threatening condition on top of that.
Now we are all going through something, and you should never let anyone belittle that or make your feel like your problems don’t matter. However… how many of us routinely skip less demanding jobs for less severe reasons? Can you honestly look at where you are, and where you want to be and say that you couldn’t have pushed hard and overcome more adversity to be further along than you are currently?
I know I can’t.
I sincerely hope none of you (or anyone else for that matter) has to go through what Mr. Boseman went through.
I also sincerely hope all of you push through whatever challenges you have and accomplish your dreams and goals with the same level of conviction and success he did.
