Good Evening!
There are, in my opinion 3 keys to success.
They are:
- Show Up
- Give 100%
- Don’t Quit
Let’s look at each.
1 – Show up.
There is an expression in politics “Decisions are made by those who show up” and its absolutely true there and everywhere else you want to succeed. This is probably the most important key, since the other 2 are dependent upon it. Bottom line, if you want to succeed at anything you have to show up and get started. If you want to be a chef you have to get in the kitchen and start cooking. If you want to be a black belt you have to show up to the dojo and start training. If you want to run a business you have to start selling. If you don’t show up (and I don’t necessary mean that literally; I mean you have to begin doing whatever it is you have to do to succeed at what you want to succeed at) and if you don’t get started you will never succeed. This probably seems pretty straight forward… but it is by far the one people fail at the most. People far too often end up being the person they became while they were waiting to be the thing they claim to be… all because they didn’t show up.
2 – Give 100%
Look at every major success in history, whether business or otherwise. Was it achieved with 50% effort? 75%? No of course not. If you want to succeed and be truly great at something you have to give 100%.
Michael Phelps trained harder than most people can possibly fathom to become the most successful Olympian of all time. Bill Gates was sleeping under his desk and forgetting to eat while he was starting Microsoft. And on and on. If you put in 75% effort and someone else puts in 100% you are going to lose. If you have a client based business of any kind, you are being unethical by not giving them 100% and they will sense that and go to someone that will. Anything worth doing is worth doing right, and giving 100% is the only way to do that.
3 – Don’t Quit.
Life can be hard sometimes. Business can be scary, stressful, and will present you challenges you won’t find anywhere else in your life. But you have decided on an end game and you have an obligation to get there… and you won’t if you quit. This is pretty self explanatory but if you quit before you succeed you won’t succeed. Tiger Woods won the 2008 U.S. Open even though he had arthroscopic surgery on his knee 2 weeks earlier… he won because he showed up, gave 100% and didn’t quit. At one point in the 1990s Apple stock was worth less than $1 now it is the most profitable company in the history of the world because Steve Jobs and others didn’t quit. If your end game is worth it, and it should be if you have committed to it, you won’t… you CAN’T quit!
So there you have it. This is the secret they didn’t teach us in school. Its so simple, but it is so difficult at the same time… but it is everything.
I want you to Profiit and succeed so I hope you will take these 3 keys seriously and implement them in your life because you owe it to your customers, your friends and family, and to the world.
Best,
CMW
