How much time do you spend testing new techniques and strategies?
I have an SEO background, as do many of you.
SEOs love to test different techniques and strategies, often to their detriment, and I have been very critical of this in the past… and I stand by it to an extent… testing new things when current things still work, or basics aren’t in place is not the best use of time.
However I think I have often gone too far the other direction because I have been getting away with it, at least in SEO.
But I am going to step up my testing, and R&D in the coming weeks.
(hopefully Beavis & Butthead doesn’t offend anyone, I apologize if it does)
For example I am playing around with internal search algorithms on directory sites like Yelp (much as I dislike them) as well as some Google maps techniques that I previously didn’t try because again, what I have been doing for years still works.
Also been spending a LOT of time working on SEO for Legiit which is a whole different animal than anything I have ever worked on before.
But testing new things leads to new opportunities to offer your clients a better experience, added value, and so on.
It also diversifies your income streams and leads to more Profiit.
For example if if the Yelp technique works out I am going to sell it to all my existing clients, use it as a new offer for potential prospects, and teach it to my students in Superstar SEO Academy.
The point I am trying to make here is do the basics, do what works, but put aside some time to test and learn something new.
Talk to you tomorrow.
Best,
CMW
