The Grass Is Always Greener

Good Evening,

Its Super Bowl Sunday here in the United States.

This is basically a pseudo-holiday to a lot of Americans.

I spent the first portion of it by myself catching up on household chores, at home, alone.

I was texting with a friend of mine at the time who is in a similar line of work.

He was at a party of some kind with his family.

I was telling him how much it sucked to be at home working when most people were enjoying time with friends and family.

He told me how he was sitting there, bored, wishing he were at home working.

He and I do this often.

Its interesting how no matter where you are, and what your situation in your life, or in your business, you often wish you were where someone else is.

I made a similar post on my personal timeline/page yesterday as well.

Its an interesting phenomenon but I don’t think it is a healthy/productive one.

Measuring yourself against others is always going to make you think the grass is greener next door.

Measure yourself against your past self and where you are in relation to where you want to be.

That’s how you stay motivated without getting frustrated.

This applies to your business and your personal life.

You can always be better, and you should always strive to be better… but it shouldn’t be based on what someone else has or is doing.

Set your goals, reverse engineer them into steps, work towards them, and go out and get it done because you owe it to yourself, and you owe it to the world to be the best version of you.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Best,
CMW
