Good Evening Everyone!
Late night edition of the Profiit Academy Daily tonight.
Today I want to talk about what my partner at Legiit and other ventures has said is my greatest strength… making lemonade. First you need a lemon, some water and some sugar and you… just kidding.
No of course what I mean is being confronted with a bad situation and turning it to your advantage… or making lemonade out of lemons. (Now that I think about that analogy, why is it assumed that lemons are bad?) In business, sometimes things aren’t going to go the way you want them to. Its just an unfortunate fact of life. But I am convinced that there is a way to take every unfortunate situation and turn it to your advantage.
I don’t mean this in some hippy dippy Pollyanna sunshine way where you just pretend everything is ok. What I mean is you need to take the following steps when something doesn’t work out how you wanted: Look at what happened Accept that it had happened and that you can’t go back and change it. Mitigate the bad effects of what happened as much as you can, whenever possible Figure out what you can do and what you can learn from it to make the most of the situation.
For example
On Legiit we have had periodic problems with people sending unsolicited spam messages to other people on the site. That sucks because it really upsets people. (Lemons). So we had to find a way to deal with it. First we added a report as spam button so people could let us know it was happening and make them realize we cared (Lemonade). That made it nearly stop because we banned the offenders.
Then it started up again (Lemons) so we added 2FA for new users which made the site more secure in general (Lemonade). And for a long while that put a stop to it. Then it started back up again (Lemons). And made some changes to the affiliate program that made it more fair to our sellers and customers (Lemonade)
However that change did not remove the ability of for the lack of a better term, the grandfathered spammers to spam (Lemons).
So we developed a way (that I have to keep under wraps) to root them out and eliminate them thus greatly reducing their ability to annoy our customers and steal profits from our sellers (Lemonade).
So we made 4 big glasses of lemonade out of the fact that people were spamming our customers and we have a better platform for it. So think about some adversity you have faced in your business (or life).
Were you able to make lemonade out of those lemons? I’d love to hear your story.
Please share it in the Profiit Academy Facebook Group.
Talk to you tomorrow with our weekly tactics lesson.
Best,
